It’s been a good year on the local exchange and globally with the Top40 up almost 14% year-to-date while the S&P500 has gained almost 30% (both dividends included).
The list below is the best JSE listed ETFs so far in 2024 (we’ll do the losers next week) and includes dividends already declared.
The big surprise is cash/income with the relatively new CSYSB from 10X Investments added an astounding 21% and the Satrix TRACI, STXTRA, which is really just cash, was up 17.66%.
Tech again comes out top with the ETF5IT* from 1nvest adding 32.97% while the Nasdaq ETF from Satrix, STXNDQ was up a more modest 22.77%.
Gold has had another good year with the ETFGLD from 1nvest and the Absa GLD* both up over 25%.
The other surprise, perhaps, is local listed property. Sure it started the year cheap, but the massive returns weren’t really expected with CSPROP* from 10X Investments adding almost 33% while the Satrix STXPRO* was up over 31% and ETFSAP from 1nvest gained almost 28%.
The S&P500 ETFs all did great with the Satrix Fini added almost 24% and the FNB Midcap up almost 19% with resources nowhere to be seen.
Global ETFs did well for the year as the Satrix STXWDM, ETFWLD from 1nvest and FNBEQF* all around 20% higher.
