How to spot a value trap

Often when a share price collapses, the share may appear to offer great value. This is especially true when it starts trading below net asset value (NAV). It becomes even more enticing if it’s trading below tangible net asset value (TNAV). However, can this always be the case? How do we distinguish between a share that really offers value and a value trap?
