While South Africa does appear to be on a recovery path, the turnaround is slower than initially expected and remains risky.

GDP is stuck below the 1.5% population growth meaning we’re all getting poorer. Constraining any GDP recovery is on-going load shedding that ensures GDP growth will likely be flatter for longer.

As a local investor an easy approach is offshore investing using one of the many JSE listed offshore Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). This is a perfectly suitable solution but US markets have run hard and this adds risk.

In the JSE Power Hour, Just One Lap founder, Simon Brown, will answer the following questions;

Are there local investment opportunities on the JSE?

  • Is there profit to be made from delisting’s (we saw some 20 stocks delist in 2019)?
  • Which offshore ETFs considering how hard US markets have run recently?
  • Profiting from sustainable yielding local stocks?
