Earlier this month 27four listed the 27four Global Shariah Equity Actively Managed Exchange Traded Fund (AMETF) adding to the two Satrix Shari’ah ETFs already listed on the JSE.
Shari’ah compliant investing involves using a screening process to invest in companies and sectors that adhere to Islamic Law, by avoiding prohibited activities such as interest-based lending, gambling, alcohol, and certain types of debt. This means, for example, the local Shari’ah ETF from Satrix has a lot of gold shares and as such was having an excellent year until this recent gold sell off.
With this new listing we have three Shari’ah ETFs as detailed below (click the link below for more details);
Passive Local
Passive Global
Active Global
The new 27four ETF doesn’t have TER or dividend details as yet as it’s a new fund and that data will come out over the next year.
