How is your ETF doing in 2026?

Simon BrownETF Blog, Latest

It has been a wild few weeks for investors. The last trading day of February saw not only all-time highs on the JSE, but also the fourteenth green month in a row, a streak I’ve never seen before.

The next day the US attacked Iran and suddenly markets were falling while oil rallied to almost $120 creating concerns about inflation and the resulting fuel price spike we saw last week.

March was one of the worst months for the JSE in twenty years.

Now with a tentative ceasefire is in place and global markets had a huge green day on the news.

Below we have the returns of the best and worst twenty JSE listed ETFs for the year-to-date (for close on 08 April 2026). We also include the one-year returns to give some perspective. March was no fun for anybody, but it also wasn’t portfolio destroying assuming a diverse portfolio, which is exactly what an ETF offers.
